Start of Press Release:
Covina, California ~ Ameritec announces today the addition of an Audio Monitor & Sync Generator (AMSG) to enhance test capability of the high density system call generation Crescendo  product line in a multi-unit, or geographically dispersed test environment.  The AMSG provides two significant functions, local audio monitoring and test system synchronized timing.  Utilizing the AMSG, a test operator can locally monitor selected audio tones produced by an attached Crescendo call generator.  In addition, the AMSG provides precise timing that can be synchronized throughout the network to allow accurate measurement of transmission delays.

When testing a telephone switch, the AMSG provides a test operator with the ability to monitor the progress of a telephone call through the switch being tested.  The test operator can assign any transmit or receive pair to one of the audio speakers on the AMSG front panel.  The test operator can then monitor the selected audio tones carried by that pair.

The AMSG provides synchronized clocking for use in measurement of network delays.  When connected to one or more Crescendos, the AMSG acts as the clock source and can synchronize the clock timing of any AMSG or Crescendo units connected to it.  The synchronization feature provides for delay measurement testing when the signal originates on one Crescendo and terminates on another Crescendo in a different location.

Start of Press Release:

Covina, California ~ Ameritec announced today the ability to calculate Golden Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (GPESQ) on multiple channels simultaneously using impairments measured with the companyâs GoldenMOS application for their Forte¨ 2800D model of digital Call Generators.  The new application is contained in FeatureCall¨ Millennium? the companyâs new graphical user interface (GUI) used to manage its Call Generation product line.

Developers of packet-switched networks and network components have been faced with the challenge of improving MOS scores, but prior to the release of GoldenMOS, had little insight into the direct effect of impairments on voice quality.  For some period of time they have been seeking a standards based method of translating the effects of various impairments in the packet-switched network to an MOS.  In May 2000 the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) released ITU-T Recommendation G.107 The E-model, a computational model for use in transmission planning.  The E-model is an equation that predicts a R-rating, or R-Factor, based on impaired network elements.  The resultant R-rating can then be input into an equation defined in ITU-T Recommendation G.107, Annex B. to calculate an MOS value of 1-5, with 5 being a perfect score.  The primary measurements required by the E-model equation are receive loudness, directional delays (round-trip and 1-way), the signal-to-noise and an equipment impairment factor (Ie) based on the percentage of packet loss and the Codec used in the network ö all measurements based on the VoP3/GMOS voice over packet test application.

The key technology associated with this innovation is the use of the enhanced GoldenVoice¨ stimulus released in VoP3/GMOS to produce the measurements required by the E-Model equation for calculating the R-factor and resultant GMOS and GPSQM.  Based on the configuration of the call generator(s) the GMOS and GPSQM values can be calculated on one or a thousand channels simultaneously by the GoldenMOS application in FeatureCall Millennium.  The application is an easy to use, yet is powerful enough to report both the quality and performance of a packet-switched network transporting voice.

If you have a need for a single test tool that can expose the impairments of the packet-switched network and provide voice quality measurements, Ameritec has a solution for you.  Contact Ameritec today by calling (626) 915-5441 or via the internet at askzeke@ameritec.com.

Covina, California ~ Ameritec announced today the release of the Modem Quality of Service (MQoS) feature set for its digital Fortissimo and Allegro call generation products.

The MQoS features allow any digital Fortissimo and Allegro product to simulate fax and data modem traffic to test a next generation switch’s ability to recognize these transmissions and successfully switch into a transparent G.711 mode of operation. Once in G.711, the call generator then runs an algorithm based on BERT test results and Ameritec’s GoldenVoice technology to compute MQoS scores. These scores provide metrics of fax pages per hour for fax calls and equivalent throughput for modem calls
