The Prize was awarded annually in recognition of a specific, significant accomplishment in medical research toward functional recovery from spinal cord injury and was composed of three parts.
  •  A US $40,000 recognition grant.

  • An inscribed sculptured statuette of "The Archer" symbolizing the accomplishment  and commitment by the recipient in "target a cure for paralysis".

  • Public acknowledgement of the recipient and recognition of their accomplishment.

The Future

The Ameritec Foundation Board believes the Ameritec Prize has largely accomplished the goal of encouraging researchers to actively study spinal cord injury and paralysis and we currently trying to find ways to encourage researchers to develop practical solutions that improve the quality of life for spinal cord injured people.
